Nets & Packaging Nets

What types of packaging nets are available from Gulfpack Solutions?

We offer a wide range of extruded nets, raschel nets, and tubular goods. Extruded nets are particularly stable and are often used for potatoes and onions. Raschel nets have a finer structure and are suitable for high-quality products such as citrus fruits, avocados, or nuts. Tubular goods are designed for automatic machines and are cut to size individually. This enables us to cover almost every application in the field of fruit and vegetable packaging.

Our nets are suitable for a wide range of products, including potatoes, onions, oranges, lemons, mandarins, apples, pears, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers, avocados, nuts, and even berries. Thanks to the flexibility of the material, many products can be optimally packaged so that they are breathable, visible, and protected at the same time. Retailers and consumers thus benefit from fresh, appealing goods.

We work with various materials, including polyethylene (PE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), paper, cellulose, and PLA (biodegradable). Each material has specific advantages: PE and HDPE are stable and recyclable, cellulose and PLA are particularly sustainable, and paper offers a natural look. Customers can choose the right solution for their needs.

Yes, Gulfpack Solutions is a pioneer in the field of sustainable packaging. We offer nets made of HDPE, cellulose, and paper that are either recyclable or biodegradable. Our mono-packaging, in which the net and label are made of the same material, is particularly interesting. This makes recycling much easier and ensures that the packaging meets the highest sustainability standards.

The nets themselves are not printed, but they can be fitted with clip bands and labels that can be customized. Logos, brand colors, origin information, and product information can be integrated. This combination ensures that the product is not only functional but also effectively marketed.

Our nets are available in various mesh sizes (fine to coarse), widths from 25 to 55 cm, and numerous colors. This allows products to be presented in the best possible way – from subtle natural tones to eye-catching brand colors. This variety makes it possible to tailor packaging to customer wishes and retail requirements.

Our nets are compatible with all common clipping machines, net bag machines, and filling systems. If required, we can advise you on which types of nets are best suited for which machines. We also offer suitable machines directly, ensuring that the nets and technology are perfectly matched.

Clip band & steel band

What is clip band and how is it used?

Clip band is a special packaging closure material that is mainly used in the fruit and vegetable industry. It is processed in a clip machine and closes nets securely and efficiently. At the same time, it is used to attach labels with product information such as weight, origin, or brand logo. Clip band is therefore not only a practical closure, but also an important medium for marketing and legal information.

Clipband offers a whole range of advantages: it is quick to process, cost-effective, and extremely reliable. Compared to adhesive solutions or knots, it ensures a clean, professional closure. Mechanical closure leads to a significant reduction in downtime for machines that also use welding technology and require cleaning cycles, for example. Thanks to various material coatings (copper, zinc, brass), our clip band can also be used in a variety of ways. Due to its versatility, clip band is now the standard closure in net packaging.

We stock clip band in a standard width of 5 mm. However, we can offer all widths up to 60 mm on customer request, so that it fits perfectly with different machines and applications. We use copper, zinc, or brass as materials. This enables us to provide the right solution for every application – from light products such as onions to heavy packaging.

Yes, clip bands are recyclable. Thanks to their ferromagnetic properties, the steel bands can be sorted out during the recycling process, melted down, and returned to the cycle. In addition, we develop clip band solutions that are based on the current requirements of the Packaging Directive and are future-proof in the long term.

No. Clipband itself cannot be individually printed. We offer the option of painting Clipband in a single color. However, we are happy to offer you labels of any kind for attaching a logo, giving you unlimited creative freedom.

Clipband is universally applicable, but is mainly used for potatoes, onions, oranges, lemons, avocados, garlic, and clementines. These products are usually sold in nets that are closed with Clipband. This makes Clipband indispensable in the fruit and vegetable trade and one of the most important components in modern packaging lines.

Labels & printed products

What types of labels does Gulfpack Solutions offer?

Our range includes bridge labels, adhesive labels, banderoles, and special labels. Bridge labels are often used in conjunction with clip bands to label net packaging. Adhesive labels are suitable for cartons or packaging that can be labeled directly. Banderoles serve both to stabilize and decorate products. We also offer special labels with invisible ink or special security features, which are used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, for example.

We have both flexographic and digital printing machines. Flexographic printing is suitable for large print runs with consistently high quality and brilliant colors. Digital printing is ideal for small and medium print runs or when personalized labels are required. Customers benefit from maximum flexibility and can have both standard labels and individual small series produced by us.

Yes, thanks to our digital printing technology, we can also produce small quantities of a few hundred copies economically. This is particularly interesting for special promotions, seasonal products, or test packaging. This allows companies to design their brand communication flexibly without having to order large minimum quantities.

Our labels are available in film materials (PE, PP, PET) and sustainable alternatives such as tear-resistant paper. Paper labels offer a natural look, while films are particularly durable. HDPE labels are recyclable and can be combined with HDPE nets – a major advantage for sustainable packaging.

We offer a wide range of finishes: from coatings (matte, glossy) to cold foil lamination and invisible security printing. This not only enhances the appearance of labels, but also equips them with additional functions. Such options are particularly in demand in the premium segment or for safety-related products such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Yes – our labels and printing inks are low-migration and meet all legal requirements. This means that they can be used in direct contact with food without hesitation. This is a crucial quality and safety aspect, especially for fresh fruit and vegetable packaging.

Yes – with our HDPE labels, we offer a solution that is completely recyclable. In combination with HDPE nets, this creates mono-material packaging that can be easily processed in the recycling cycle. This is an important contribution to reducing packaging waste and meeting the sustainability requirements of the retail sector.

Applications & Industries

Which types of fruit are best suited for packaging in nets?

Net packaging is ideal for potatoes, onions, oranges, lemons, clementines, garlic, avocados, and nuts. It is breathable and ensures that the products stay fresh longer. At the same time, it allows for good visibility in the supermarket, which is an important selling point for consumers. All important information can be easily attached using a clip band and label.

Citrus fruits such as oranges, mandarins, or lemons are usually packaged in raschel nets with clip bands. This solution is robust, economical, and practical for consumers to handle. Bar labels provide additional space for branding, origin information, and promotions. This means that the packaging meets both functional and marketing requirements.

Potatoes and onions are usually packaged in extruded nets or raschel nets that are closed with clip tape. Depending on retail requirements, packaging units from 500 g to 25 kg are possible. 1.5 kg or 5 kg bags are particularly popular with end consumers. We also offer sturdy industrial packaging for bulk buyers.

Trays with banderoles or film packaging are more suitable for delicate fruits such as berries or grapes. The combination of protection, visibility, and breathability plays a major role here. Gulfpack Solutions supplies appropriate adhesive labels, banderoles, and printing solutions that look high-quality and ensure freshness at the same time.

Yes, organic products often require sustainable and recyclable packaging that meets the high expectations of consumers. We offer paper nets, cellulose labels, and biodegradable materials. In addition, we advise customers on how they can adapt their entire packaging line to organic standards without losing efficiency.

In addition to classic plastic solutions, we offer HDPE mono packaging, papers, and PLA materials. These alternatives are fully recyclable or compostable. Mono packaging, in which the net and label are made of the same material, is a particularly popular solution for sustainable markets. This enables retailers and producers to significantly reduce their ecological footprint.

Good packaging ensures that products can be easily stacked, transported, and presented attractively on the shelf. At the same time, it makes handling easier for consumers. Labels with barcodes, QR codes, or origin information are essential for retailers to ensure traceability and billing.

Packaging must be particularly robust and standardized for export, as the products have to withstand long transport routes. Breathable nets, sturdy cardboard boxes, and waterproof labels are crucial here. Gulfpack Solutions supports export companies in meeting legal requirements in the destination countries while ensuring optimal product safety.

Foil packaging with adhesive labels that remain reliable even at low temperatures is suitable for frozen products. Convenience products benefit from banderoles and printed sleeves, which offer both protection and marketing space. With digital printing, we can produce individual designs and small print runs, ideal for changing product ranges.

Materials & sustainability

What materials does Gulfpack Solutions use for packaging?

We work with a variety of materials to offer the right solutions for different products. These include polyethylene (PE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), paper, cellulose, and PLA. PE and HDPE are particularly stable and durable, while cellulose and PLA are biodegradable. Paper scores points with its natural look and is in high demand, especially in the organic segment. This wide range of materials enables us to offer packaging that meets both the requirements of the retail trade and the sustainability expectations of consumers.

Not all packaging can be recycled in the same way, but Gulfpack Solutions focuses specifically on materials that can be recycled in standard recycling cycles. Our HDPE products in particular are 100% recyclable and enable mono-packaging that can be disposed of separately. Paper and cellulose are biodegradable alternatives that are also sustainable. We advise customers individually on the most suitable solution for their products and markets.

Single-material packaging is made entirely from a single material, such as HDPE. This means that the net and label can be recycled together without any problems. The big advantage is that consumers do not have to separate the packaging and recycling plants can process it without time-consuming sorting. Single-material packaging is therefore considered particularly sustainable and already meets the requirements of many retail chains and legal regulations.

Yes, we offer various biodegradable solutions such as cellulose and PLA nets and paper labels. These materials decompose under industrial conditions and leave no environmentally harmful residue. They are particularly suitable for organic products and markets that demand consistently sustainable packaging. However, it is important to make the right choice: biodegradable packaging is not ideal for all applications, as it is sometimes less robust than plastic alternatives.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is one of the most important materials for sustainable packaging solutions. It is lightweight, stable, and fully recyclable. A major advantage of HDPE is that it can be used to manufacture both nets and labels, enabling monomaterial packaging. HDPE is therefore an ideal solution for customers looking for sustainable yet efficient packaging.

  • PE (polyethylene): robust, flexible, versatile, recyclable
  • HDPE (high-density PE): more stable, easier to recycle, suitable for mono-packaging
  • PLA (polylactide): biodegradable, made from renewable raw materials
  • Paper: sustainable, natural look, particularly popular for organic products
  • Cellulose: biodegradable, compostable, visually similar to plastic nets

This allows the right material to be selected depending on the product, market, and sustainability strategy.

The industry is clearly moving towards plastic reduction and recyclability. Mono packaging made from HDPE, paper solutions, and biodegradable alternatives are particularly in demand. Transparency for consumers also plays a role: more and more retailers are demanding packaging that is clearly labeled as „recyclable“ or „biodegradable.“ In addition, companies are increasingly turning to digital printing to produce smaller runs with individual designs and to be able to flexibly adapt marketing messages.

Trends & Industry Knowledge

Why is sustainable packaging so important in the food industry?

Sustainable packaging is no longer just a trend, but a necessity. Consumers are paying increasing attention to how products are packaged, and retailers are also demanding recyclable or biodegradable solutions. At the same time, there are strict legal requirements that are forcing manufacturers and retailers to make the switch. Sustainable packaging helps to reduce food waste, conserve resources, and strengthen brand image. Those who opt for environmentally friendly alternatives early on gain a clear competitive advantage.

The most important trends include:

  • Sustainable materials (HDPE, paper, cellulose, PLA)
  • Single-material packaging for easier recycling
  • Digital printing for small runs and personalized labels
  • Automation of packaging processes using modern machines
  • Marketing-oriented packaging that combines functionality and brand messaging
These developments show that packaging is no longer just a means of protection, but also a strategic sales tool.

The biggest challenges lie in striking a balance between sustainability, cost, and functionality. On the one hand, there are increasing demands from legislators and consumers, while on the other hand, packaging must remain affordable and efficient. Added to this are global supply chains that are repeatedly disrupted by crises or bottlenecks. Companies such as Gulfpack Solutions must therefore be innovative, flexible, and reliable in order to support their customers in the long term.

Digitalization has revolutionized packaging printing. With digital printing, smaller print runs can be produced cost-effectively and designs can be adapted at any time. This allows retailers and producers to respond more flexibly to trends, seasonal products, or promotions. At the same time, digitalization optimizes production processes and allows data for traceability and transparency to be integrated directly onto packaging.

In the case of nets, the trend is clearly towards sustainable materials such as paper and cellulose alternatives. In addition, material innovations are being developed that are lighter but more stable in order to reduce material usage. Innovation here means not only a new look, but above all better recyclability and resource conservation. Clipband is sustainable in that it can be recycled infinitely and promises efficient processes thanks to its simple application.

Good packaging ensures that products stay fresh longer and can be transported safely. Breathable nets prevent mold growth, sturdy labels ensure traceability, and portioned packaging units reduce surpluses in retail. Packaging thus contributes not only to protection, but also to efficiency throughout the supply chain and, ultimately, to sustainability. Because food waste is not sustainable.
